New Year’s Eve at the beautiful Columbian Home was fantastic! The food was great, the music was great (Kato never disappoints), and the Columbian Home was sold out. Thank you for your support.

The Columbian Home Family Tree Project is officially underway. Brochures were sent out last week. If you did not receive one, you can pick one up at the Columbian Home. The Family Tree is now on the wall of the porch dining room, and you can purchase leaves to commemorate a special occasion, memorialize a loved one, honor a special person, or anything that will not get you arrested. The leaves are silver ($200), gold ($350) or emerald ($500). Each leaf allows for three lines of text with twenty-one characters per line (including spaces). Get your form in asap because once we sell out of leaves there will be no more. If you would like to donate an amount less that $200, please make your donation check to “The Columbian Home” and send it to 1519 Greenleaf St., Allentown PA 18102. Every little bit helps. All money from the Columbian Home Family Tree Project will go to much-needed remodeling of our kitchen.

Speaking of our kitchen, a few Sundays ago my family and I enjoyed breakfast at the beautiful Columbian Home. If you haven’t had breakfast there, you are in for a real treat. I love bacon, so I ordered three helpings. My daughter (Princess Lara) warned me to watch what I eat. I told her that I tried to eat healthy, but it’s hard to do. That same day I almost choked on a carrot and all I could think was “I bet a donut wouldn’t have done that to me.” Sunday breakfast at the beautiful Columbian Home is the best.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so make your reservations for our Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 10. Bring your sweetie or your wife and have dinner and dance to the music of Coal Cracker Carl and the Holy Coalies. They will be singing songs you never knew you disliked until you heard them. I’m just kidding. The lovely and talented Kristen Morgenstern will be our entertainer that evening, so call for reservations now.

On Sunday, February 18, the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee is having a fundraiser at the beautiful Columbian Home from 3:00-6:00 PM. There will be a DJ so dancing is a must if you are Irish, optional for all others. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and that includes select beer and soda during the fundraiser. There will also be an amazing basket raffle and the kitchen will be open and serving special Irish fare. Tickets are available from one of our friendly bartenders.

On Saturday, March 2 we will be having our famous County and Western Night featuring our own Johnny K. He’ll be singing great songs like “It’s a Shame Nuns Have No Bad Habits,” “Don’t Kiss My Sister, She’s a Sister,” and “I Won’t Go Huntin’ with You Jake, But Let’s Go Chase Your Sister.” Make your reservations and enjoy a great night of dining and dancing.

Sunday, March 17 is our Annual Post-Parade St. Patrick’s Day Party. Rob Reilly will be our DJ, playing all the music you love to hear, and Irish food will be served. Cold Guinness and delicious Jameson will be featured, and so many tales of glory will be told at the bar that we may have to invite a priest in to hear confessions. There is no better place to spend the Irish High Holy Day than the beautiful Columbian Home.

Stay safe, healthy, and warm. Thank you for your generosity and support of the beautiful Columbian Home. As always, I keep you in my prayers.

All the best,
Joe Mascari, President
